Appearance and Composition
The Huawei MA5600 shelf has 16 slots. The fan tray is located at the top of the shelf. The shelf is installed in the cabinet through the mounting brackets. This topic provides the appearance and composition of the MA5600 shelf.
Figure 1 shows the appearance and composition of the MA5600 shelf.

Function:
The MA5600 shelf provides different functions through different service boards. This topic provides information about the functions of the MA5600 shelf.
The MA5600 shelf is 10 U high. It provides 16 slots to house various boards. The functions of the shelf are as follows:
·                 Accessing the VDSL2, ADSL2+, and SHDSL services.
·                 Converting the accessed services to IP packets and transmitting them upstream to the IP network.

Working Principles:
The MA5600 shelf consists of Ethernet switching module, control module, service interface module, "MPLS module, "network interface module, and ISU module. These modules support the service access and uplink.
The MA5600 provides ADSL2+, VDSL2, SHDSL services, and IP upstream services through various modules. The MA5600 shelf mainly consists of the following modules:
·                 Ethernet switching module
·                 Main control module
·                 Service interface module
·                 Multiprotocol label switching (MPLS) module
·                 Network interface module
·                 ISU module

Ethernet Switching Module:
The Ethernet switching module is the core of the entire system. It helps in data conversion and protocol handling for the SCU board and service boards.

Control Module:
The control module consists of the SCU board, subboard and related software. This module supports the following:
·                 Control the system and switch services.
·                 Provide the environment monitoring port for connecting the environment monitoring module.

Service Interface Module:
The service interface module consists of the service boards and the related software. It provides various service ports to support:
·                 ADSL2+
·                 SHDSL
·                 VDSL2
·                 ATM(STM-1/IMA/E3)

Network Interface Module:
This module provides the following network ports for connecting to the upper layer network device:
·                 FE optical (electrical) port
·                 GE optical (electrical) port

MPLS Module:
This module consists of the M2GA subboard and the related software.
This module implements MPLS encapsulation for some private line services and forwards them to the IP metropolitan area network (MAN). In this way, the MPLS module offers private line services in the IP MAN.

ISU Module:
This module consists of the ISU board and the related software. It supports the following:
·                 Authentication based on PPPoE, VLAN binding, or VLAN + web (forced portal and embedded portal)
·                 Accounting based on traffic or duration
·                 Providing GE/FE uplink ports

How to Troubleshoot the Fault That the NMS Displays that the EMAC Chip of the MA5600T Board Is Faulty



If the NMS displays that the EMAC chip of the Huawei MA5600T board is faulty, is the board hardware or the chip faulty? How to troubleshoot such a fault?

Answer
If the MA5600T reports that the EMAC chip is faulty, it does not indicate that the board hardware or chip is faulty.

Reset the board or remove and insert the board. If the fault is rectified, there is no need to replace the board. If the fault persists, replace the board.

How to Load the Version of the Standby Control Board of the MA5600



Question

How to load the version of the standby control board of the MA5600 if the active control board functions properly?

Answer
If one of the control boards of the MA5600 is faulty, the faulty control board needs to be
replaced. In replacement, the following scenarios may occur:

l For H801SCUN, there is no need to check the versions of control boards on the live network or the version of the substitute control board. This is because the H801SCUN supports duplicating of all information to the standby control board. No manual operation is required.

l For H801SCUB, H801SCUF, or H801SCUL,
When the version of the original control board is earlier than V800R008C01, automatic
information duplication to the standby control board is supported if the version of the
substitute control board is V800R006C02 or later. No manual operation is required.

When the version of the original control board is V800R008C01 or later, automatic
information duplication to the standby control board is supported if the version of the
substitute control board is V800R008C01 or later. No manual operation is required.

When the version of the original control board is V800R008C01 or later, a patch is
required for the substitute control board to support automatic information duplication
to the standby control board if the version of the substitute control board is earlier than
V800R006C02: SPC124 or a later patch
V800R007C00: SPC307 or a later patch
V800R007C01: SPC307 or a later patch

When the version of the substitute control board is earlier than V800R006C02.
automatic information duplication to the standby control board is not supported.
Therefore, manually upgrade the substitute control board to the version of the control
board on the live network for information synchronization.

Can Multicast Packets Be Carried in the PPPoE Mode on the MA5600T/MA5603T



Question
In what conditions can multicast packets be carried in the PPPoE mode on the Huawei GPON MA5600T/
MA5603T?

Answer
The prerequisite is that the multicast server supports PPPoE-encapsulated multicast streams. In addition, the MA5600T/MA5603T needs to be configured with parameters by performing the following operations:

Step 1 Run the igmp mode snooping command to set the IGMP mode of the MA5600T/MA5603T to snooping.

Step 2 Run the igmp report-proxy disable command to disable proxy of the IGMP report message of the MA5600T/MA5603T.

Step 3 If the upper-layer device cannot identify the IGMP over PPPoE packet, run the igmp echo enable command to enable the IG Default Configuration e standard Ethernet packet. Then multicast server sends the Ethernet packet to the upper-layer device.
